The Alabama football program painfully reminds Georgia football fans of one of the worst days in their lives on Feb. 26.

Feb. 26 is a day Alabama football fans must celebrate the pain of the Georgia football program.

Alabama tweeted a video of perhaps the greatest play of the Nick Saban era on Feb. 26: Second-and-26. Crimson Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa took a deplorably bad sack in overtime vs. Georgia in the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship. The southpawed quarterback redeemed himself on the very next play, connecting with Devonta Smith to game-winning pay dirt.

Second-and-26 was a life-changing play for all parties involved

A busted coverage in the back-end prevented Georgia from winning its first national title since 1980. Alabama won its fifth of the Saban era in Tuscaloosa. Tagovailoa became the unquestioned starter at Alabama, forcing the incumbent Jalen Hurts to transfer ahead of the 2019 season. This was the first signature play of Smith’s legendary Heisman Trophy-winning career at Alabama.

Simply put, this play has become not only SEC lore, but part of the very fabric that makes college football so fantastic. There was no way Alabama should have hit game-winning pay dirt on that play, but you can never trust Atlanta or Georgia sports in a tight spot under any circumstances whatsoever. This was the definitive play of the 2017 college football season, without question.

Alabama has the right to troll Georgia every Feb. 26 for the rest of time with clips of this play.
