4. Los Angeles Chargers

Justin Herbert had a record-breaking rookie campaign for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2020, but now it is time for Tom Telesco to get his young signal-caller a defense to rely on.

Last year, the Chargers finished 7-9. Although, many feel the team could have been better with more substantial coaching. Therefore, Anthony Lynn has since been fired, and Telesco has gone with Brandon Staley as the team’s new head coach. Formerly, he was the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams.

Staley is a defensive guy, and that is the exact area where the front office needs to spend most of their time looking to better the club this offseason. In 2020, the team’s defense allowed 426 points (10th most in the NFL) and had just 27 team sacks and 143 total pressures.

Yes, Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram were both limited, each playing in just 19 total games combined. There is a need for another pass rusher on that line, Williams fits the team’s timeline and Ingram will be a free agent.

Williams is still just 26 years old, and he and Bosa could be yet another one-two punch to get excited for. Yes, Linval Joseph is currently the team’s interior linemen. However, Williams provides more upside. Moving on from the veteran Joseph to bring in Williams could make sense. Maybe he will want to return to the state where he played his college football?

Who knows, but the Chargers have the cap space to ink him on a deal, and he could slot right into that tackle spot for the defense, or even play some end once again.
