Tim Tebow believes Urban Meyer and Trevor Lawrence can save the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Tim Tebow expects his former Florida head coach Urban Meyer and incoming franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence to do great things together with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Tebow won national championships and a Heisman Trophy playing for Meyer at Florida in the late 2000s. The Jacksonville native knows it is not going to be easy for Lawrence to turn this downtrodden AFC South franchise around, but he told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on his podcast that this potentially transcendent head coach/quarterback pairing should have all of Duval excited.

“They have to pull the trigger and make that happen,” Tebow told Schefter. “I think that Trevor brings so much to the table. Not only is he a great athlete that has an incredible skill set, but he’s also a very mature young man that has been in a lot of big moments.”

“That really helps with the pressure. Having the chance to possibly come to a place in Jacksonville that will be super excited to have him and really, I guess, as a city bring him in with open arms, I think that will be really encouraging for a young quarterback.”

“He’ll have the chance, if he gets teamed up with Urban, one of the things I love about Urban is he’s going to put someone in a position where their strengths can flourish. He’s always done that. I believe he’ll always do that.”

Shahid Khan is counting on Urban Meyer and Trevor Lawrence to save his Jaguars

Jacksonville is one of the worst franchises in the NFL and in one of the smallest media markets. The Jaguars have made the AFC playoffs once since Tebow starred in Gainesville. After winning their first game of the 2020 NFL season, Jacksonville went on a 15-game losing streak, putting the Jaguars in position to take Lawrence No. 1 overall out of Clemson in the 2021 NFL Draft.

While Meyer has won everywhere he has been in college, this is the NFL. Though Lawrence is the best quarterback prospect since arguably Peyton Manning, “The Sheriff” told him first-hand that he will have to cover up a lot of holes on his rebuilding team. Overall, owner Shahid Khan is trusting the Lawrence/Meyer partnership will save his struggling Jaguars franchise from despair.

Tebow’s belief in the duo feels a tad optimistic, but Jacksonville now has hope with these two.
