Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings is linking Russell Wilson to the Bears.

To be fair, Jennings is an NFL analyst — it’s literally his job to answer such questions. He has no affinity for the Packers anymore, and has even spoken out against the team in recent years. The unbiased approach is refreshing, as some former players cannot quite eliminate their partial approach.

When asked which team he thinks makes the most sense for Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, Jennings answered honestly — the Chicago Bears. This is not to suggest he has ill will towards his former employer, of course.

“For me it’s always been about the Chicago Bears,” Jennings told Colin Cowherd. “I know people are going to be like what, why? It doesn’t make sense.”

The Bears actually make a lot of sense as a Russell Wilson destination

“But the Chicago Bears with that defense and with them already having quarterback issues… Matt Nagy, Ryan Pace the general manager, they’re not trying to tie their hitch to Mitchell Trubisky of Nick Foles. So you know that’s a situation where he can go in and be can impact it right away,” Jennings continued.

Jennings is right — the Bears have a strong defensive front, and despite potentially losing Allen Robinson in free agency, look to be a quarterback away from at the very least taking a significant step forward.

The question remains as to whether the Seahawks intend on dealing Wilson this offseason. Reports suggest they want to hold onto him for 2021 at the very least, and that the Bears are already tempering expectations for the fanbase.

Wilson is constantly thinking about his legacy, so the Bears make sense in the long run. But 2021 might be a bit too soon to expect him to suit up in Chicago.
