Shelby Harris has Denver Broncos teammate Drew Lock’s back ahead of the 2021 NFL season.

Drew Lock may not have the best job security these days as the Denver Broncos starting quarterback, but he does seem to have the support of at least one teammate in defensive end Shelby Harris.

Harris told The WrightwaySports Network that the Broncos need to stick with Lock for the 2021 NFL season.

“You need to ride with Drew Lock,” said Harris. “He should be able to get a shot to prove himself.” 2021 will be Lock’s third year out of Missouri. While the Broncos could be a potential trade destination for any number of veteran quarterbacks, Harris has a point here.

The Broncos have to know for sure what they have in Drew Lock first

While he was not a first-round pick, Denver did use a coveted day-two pick on the former Mizzou standout. There have been moments in the last two years where Lock has given the Broncos’ offense a spark it has not seen since Peyton Manning was in shotgun. Still a tad raw and still immature to some extent, the Broncos have to be darn sure before moving on from him in 2021.

Unless the Broncos can pry someone like Deshaun Watson away from the Houston Texans in a blockbuster trade, they are better served seeing if Lock is the answer or not. If he is, Lock and head coach Vic Fangio will stick around. If not, the Broncos will stink more than they did in 2020. They will have a top-10 pick again and a new head coach to pair with general manager George Paton.

Lock may be running out of chances in Denver, but Harris is right in him deserving one more shot.
