Scouting Report. Linebacker. 185. player. Pick Analysis. Virginia. Charles Snowden. 51

Snowden needs to add weight if he’s going to make waves as a professional, but he’s got a ton of potential. That makes him a worthwhile gamble for the Rams towards the bottom of Round 6.

At 6-foot-6 the first thing that jumps out about Snowden’s film is his exceptional length. He uses his exceptional wingspan to make life difficult for opposing quarterbacks. In particular, that makes Snowden a guy who can really be a match-up nightmare in coverage at the next level.

The downside to his game is equally as obvious. Snowden lacks the functional strength required to set the edge at the point of attack. He uses his speed to make some plays with his above-average effort level, but he needs to add significant weight if he’s going to play as an every-down linebacker in Los Angeles.

His potential to turn into a coverage freak is what should get him drafted in the later rounds. The Rams can’t afford to count on him to play big snaps right away, but they might get some production out of him on obvious passing downs during his rookie season. If he maxes out his potential as a coverage linebacker this pick is going to age very well..
