I just said 50k. It’s kind of undeniable. I was expecting a war, Gavin is a tough kid. I’m pretty sure the line on this fight was pretty even and could’ve just as easily been me there on the canvas, but we trained hard, I saw everything in there and landed the first shot. The rest is history.

Manel Kape vs. Matheus Nicolau

OFFICIAL RESULTS: Nicolau Matheus def. Manel Kape via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)

The journey to be here was rough. I’ve been going through a lot. I went through a lot in those couple of years that I was out of the UFC. Especially in this training camp, I went through a lot. I was about to fight Tagir Ulanbekov, he is a completely different fighter, with all different characteristics. The opponent just changed like two weeks ago, so we had to change all the strategy for this fight. Of course I wanted to win by knockout or submission, but it’s good to have a tough fight like that. I think I proved to everybody and even to myself how much of a warrior I am, how much I want this, how much I work hard. I put everything inside the octagon and I think I did enough to get the victory.

Charles Jourdain vs. Marcelo Rojo

OFFICIAL RESULTS: Charles Jourdain defeated Marcelo Rojo via TKO, Round 3 – 4:31

It’s great. I’m a finisher. Now I’m at 11 wins, 11 wins by finish. I never lost a cowboy fight – a cowboy fight for me is like you hit me, I hit you. Rojo was a big finisher also, a very dangerous opponent and I got it done. When I sat down, my coach told me: “Charles, it might be 2-0 for him”. You can hear me on the stool say I want to be a world champion. This is not how it’s going to end for me because I had that pressure of not having a win in 2020, so I was like, if you want to be a world champion, now it’s time to pull your pants up, little man, and act like a man. I’m very proud of myself.

Highlights:

Ray Rodriguez vs. Rani Yahya

OFFICIAL RESULTS: Rani Yahya defeated Ray Rodriguez via submission (head and arm choke), Round 2 – 3:09

The fight went well. He started striking hard, I was able to absorb some punches. He threw hard kicks for me to block, my arm hurts now. He threw some hard punches I was able to absorb… That was important for me to do what I wanted to do, which was close the distance. Eventually I found the right distance to grab him and take him down. On the floor, I was feeling that I had control. He was threatening me with some hooks from his guard, avoiding me to progress. I stayed calm. I was breathing, hitting him, breathing… I knew the opportunity was going to come eventually and it came in the second round.

Highlights:

Rafa Garcia vs. Nasrat Haqparast

OFFICIAL RESULTS: Nasrat Haqparast defeated Rafa Garcia via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

To be honest, I’m a guy who doesn’t like to jump in the hype train like saying I’m the next big thing. I just want to impress with my performance and I think I did today. I just love to fight, it’s experience. For me, a finish is not that important like 15 minutes of war, experience… I’m 25, it’s my second UFC fight. I want to gain a lot of experience because, sooner or later, I’m going to get a title shot and then I want to be ready for everything and not get surprised by crazy situations. It was a good experience and I just want to keep on fighting.

Highlights:

J.J. Aldrich vs. Cortney Casey

OFFICIAL RESULTS: J.J. Aldrich defeated Cortney Casey via split decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29)

I knew it was going to be a tough fight, a tough pace. I think that we were striking back and forth. She definitely landed some really nice shots. I feel like I did too. I feel like the takedowns were the biggest factor in the fight and kind of why I was able to squeeze out the victory.

Highlights:

Gloria de Paula vs. Jinh Yu Frey

OFFICIAL RESULTS: Jinh Yu Frey defeated Gloria de Paula via unanimous decision (29-28 x3)

I feel like it’s a huge weight off my chest and my shoulders. Everybody wants to get to the UFC, but that’s not the hard part. Getting that first win is pretty tough.

Matthew Semelsberger vs. Jason Witt

Matthew Semelsberger stuns with 16 second KO of Jason Witt (Video)

I wasn’t thinking about anything honestly. I was kind of reacting off instinct, especially what my coaches were telling me to do and how I’ve been kind of preparing this whole week. Don’t think too much, all the work’s been done, the cake’s been baked, so I just went out there and did my thing.
