4 receivers the Packers can’t allow to end up on other teams

The Green Bay Packers need to focus on adding top talent at the wide receiver position this offseason.

The Green Bay Packers employed a bold strategy in 2020. The team added players at every position other than wide receiver and even drafted Aaron Rodgers’ replacement at quarterback. He then went out and won the NFL MVP Award.

The Packers have a chance at a do-over in 2021 after back-to-back NFC Championship Game defeats. Wide receiver should be a top position of focus even with Davante Adams still set at the No. 1 guy. The offense was too top-heavy toward Adams in 2020 and adding a legitimate No. 2 option could help the Packers take that next step and reach the Super Bowl.

Four receiving options stand out for the Packers to target in free agency and the draft.

4. JuJu Smith-Schuster

The Pittsburgh Steelers may simply not have the funds to bring JuJu Smith-Schuster back in 2021. All signs point toward him leaving and Green Bay could be an ideal fit for him.

He can play in the slot and also on the outside in this offense and is someone used to getting well over 100 targets in a season. With Adams already there, Smith-Schuster would bring No. 1 receiver talent to a No. 2 role.

The 24-year-old can even come in on a short-term deal with the goal of playing alongside Rodgers during his final years in town. His numbers should realistically shoot up and he would be set for a big deal when he hits the open market once again when NFL finances are back to normal.

3. Will Fuller

Will Fuller had a career-year in 2020 and that came in only 11 games because of a season-ending suspension. The Houston Texans were a total mess and he still managed to finish with 879 yards and eight touchdowns.

Fuller has flashed big-play ability during his five-year career and went off for 171 yards and two touchdowns in his final game before being suspended last season. He has put up consistent numbers without ever getting 100 targets in a season and should fit in perfectly alongside Adams.

2. Rondale Moore

Rondale Moore is an intriguing draft prospect out of Purdue. He is listed at only 5-foot-9 and had a limited college career because of injuries. But those injury concerns could cause him to slide and become a steal in the middle rounds.

The hype surrounding Moore comes from the 1,258 yards and 12 touchdowns he had as a freshman in 2018. Unfortunately, he only played in a total of seven games the next two seasons.

Moore could show up as a dynamic speed option for Rodgers and could also make noise in the return game.

1. Rashard Higgins

Rashard Higgins is a name fans outside of Cleveland may not be familiar with. He has had mixed results in his five NFL seasons, but several of those came on terrible Browns teams.

Higgins bounced back in 2020 with 599 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games. His claim to fame is having amazing chemistry with Baker Mayfield and that is one reason why the Browns should try to retain him. But if he gets along with Mayfield so well, he should only be able to do better things with someone like Rodgers throwing him the ball.

Higgins is only 26 years old and could be a legitimate No. 2 receiver if given the chance. He stands out as a second-tier option behind the likes of Smith-Schuster and Fuller.
