Kyle Pitts has a chance to break an NFL record after what he did at his pro day.

Florida Gators tight end Kyle Pitts just ran an absolutely blistering 4.46 40-yard dash time at his pro day. He did this at 6-foot-6 and 240 pounds. A sure-fire lock to go in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the 2020 John Mackey Award winner has a chance to do something no tight prospect has ever done before him: Go top five.

While Pitts’ 40 time is not the fastest ever recorded, as that would belong to former Maryland standout Vernon Davis who ran a 4.38 back in 2006, the Florida tight end stands the very real possibility of going top five. Davis and Kellen Winslow Jr. went No. 6 overall in their respective drafts. What NFL teams could be in line to draft Pitts should he indeed go top five this spring?

As many as four teams could pick Kyle Pitts with their top-five selection

While there is no reason the Jacksonville Jaguars should take anyone besides Trevor Lawrence at No. 1, you could argue the New York Jets picking at No. 2, the Miami Dolphins picking at No. 3, the Atlanta Falcons picking at No. 4 and the Cincinnati Bengals picking at No. 5 could all theoretically take Pitts. If any of those four teams end up selecting him, Miami and Atlanta feel the most likely.

The Jets should take Oregon tackle Penei Sewell at No. 2, but they might take Justin Fields out of Ohio State with that pick after his electrifying 40-yard dash time. Miami can take whoever the Dolphins want, as this is the pick that should have belonged to the Houston Texans. As for the Falcons, they have a new head coach, a hall-of-fame-level quarterback and high interest in Pitts.

If any tight end goes top five in our lifetimes, it would have to be Pitts out of Florida after his 40.
