After trading up in the first round of the NFL Draft, could the San Francisco 49ers end up trading quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo?

The San Francisco 49ers made waves earlier this week when they traded up in the NFL Draft to land the No. 3 overall pick. Immediately after that, countless Jimmy Garoppolo trade rumors started to circulate. However, San Francisco has said they’re rolling with Garoppolo as their signal-caller in 2021.

NFL teams don’t appear to be buying that notion whatsoever. Matter of fact, the belief among several front offices is that the quarterback will likely end up leaving town before the new campaign arrives.

NFL teams believe that the San Francisco 49ers will end up trading Jimmy Garoppolo

According to The Athletic’s Jeff Rowe, his sources are telling him that Garoppolo will be made available for trade talks once the 49ers ‘stop bluffing’ with their plans about him. A former second-round pick in 2014, Garoppolo made his way to San Francisco after he spent the first three years of his career with Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.

He’s been with the 49ers for the past four seasons, powering the team to the Super Bowl in 2019. However, Garoppolo hasn’t lived up to his hype and he battled injuries last season. On top of that, even when healthy, he just didn’t spin the ball all that well in 2020 as a whole.

It’s become more and more clear that he’s not the long-term answer for San Francisco to lead the offense. With that said, that doesn’t mean he couldn’t be a strong option for another team in a different city. Soon enough, we could find out where Garoppolo suits up once Week 1 rolls around, but don’t be surprised if he’s no longer in the Bay Area come early September.

Next. Patriots fans should give up on the dream of Jimmy Garoppolo reunion. dark
