Expected No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence won’t be attending the NFL Draft in Cleveland and will hear his name get called at Clemson instead.

Come next month, it’s basically a foregone conclusion that Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be taken No. 1 overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL Draft. You might as well lock it in that he’ll walk across the stage and shake Roger Goodell’s hand to start the night. Well, not so fast.

That’s because while Lawrence is still expected to hear his name called first, ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting the signal-caller won’t be attending the draft in Cleveland. Instead, he’ll be waiting for his life-changing moment at Clemson with friends and family.

How awesome is this? While most future NFL players are fired up to head to Cleveland and get some serious in-person TV time with Goodell, Lawrence is staying humble and will be taking everything in where he made a name for himself.

As a true freshman, Lawrence helped Clemson win the National Championship and things have only gone up for him since then. A former 5-star recruit, Lawrence has long been projected as a future starting quarterback in the league.

Now, the stars are aligning for him to be the go-to guy in Jacksonville for the Jaguars and new head coach Urban Meyer. It’s been years since Jacksonville has had a quarterback who has been able to earn the trust of the fanbase. Don’t get us started on Blake Bortles or Gardner Minshew.

Come next season, Lawrence will be ready to make an early impact for the Jaguars. Clemson fans can’t wait to see what he’ll be able to do in this next chapter of his life.
