With the odds of a return to the Buccaneers looking low right now, these five teams should be in on signing Antonio Brown.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are keeping the band together for a run at a repeat, with one notable exception right now. Wide receiver Antonio Brown has not yet been re-signed, and now we may know why according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Apparently, the Buccaneers and Brown are “not close” to a deal right now. He is wanted back, just not at the number Brown wants. Earlier this week, head coach Bruce Arians said the team has offers out to Brown.

After serving an eight-game suspension to start last season, Brown had 45 catches for 483 yards and four touchdowns during the regular season. He followed that with two touchdowns during the playoffs, including one in the Super Bowl win over the Chiefs.

Perhaps most importantly, Brown was a good soldier on and off the field by all accounts. Tom Brady’s influence in the Buccaneers signing him surely sent the message he better not blow what would probably be his last chance if he didn’t toe the line.

Garafolo added that other teams aren’t exactly “beating down the door” to sign Brown. If his asking price is out there and it’s consider a step or two too far, that’s not necessarily surprising.

But, amid the current stalemate with the Buccaneers, these teams should swoop in and sign Brown.

At first glance, the Cardinals don’t have a need at wide receiver. DeAndre Hopkins is one of the best receivers in the league, with Christian Kirk and newly signed A.J. Green on the depth chart. Larry Fitzgerald may be back, if he doesn’t retire. Andy Isabella still carries a hint of potential too. Still, other than Hopkins, it’s hard to have much confidence in the rest of Arizona’s wide receiver corps.

One fantasy football-centric scenario back in February, courtesy of ESPN’s Mike Clay, predicted the Cardinals would sign Brown. With $15.1 million in cap space right now, they seem to still have room to do it.
