Fans are not happy with Twins manager Rocco Baldelli for pulling Jose Berrios during a no-hitter attempt.

Something special is going on Saturday night in Milwaukee. The Minnesota Twins are taking on the Brewers and the game started under perfect conditions.

Perfect in the sense that both starting pitchers did not allow a hit through the first six innings. Jose Berrios got the start for Rocco Baldelli’s Twins and Corbin Burnes was dominating in front of the Milwaukee faithful.

Byron Buxton ended Burnes’ night with a home run in the seventh inning. But Berrios remained nearly perfect and was only at 84 pitches, allowing only one baserunner through a HBP. Instead, Baldelli decided to pull him and Twitter reacted in rage.

Rocco Baldelli rightfully roasted for pulling Jose Berrios

It is possible Baldelli wanted to avoid making Berrios pitch too long in his first start of the year. But come on, he was on a historic pace and already had 12 strikeouts. The Brewers may have actually gotten a boost by seeing him leave the game.

This is not about fans wanting Berrios to throw 150 pitches in his first outing of the year. But it is not unreasonable to want him on the mound when it was clear the Brewers couldn’t touch his pitches.

The Twins may end up combining for a perfect night. But if they end up losing the tight game, fans in Minnesota may lose their minds two games into the season.

Baldelli is now drawing comparisons to Kevin Cash, and not for anything good.
