The Minnesota Vikings cornerback Jeff Gladney has turned himself in to Dallas County Jail after being charged with third-degree felony family violence assault.

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Jeff Gladney has turned himself in to Dallas County Jail on Monday after being charged with third-degree felony family violence assault, sources told J.D. Miles of CBS 11 News in Texas. Gladney has since posted $10,000 bail following his arrest.

The charges stem from an April 2 incident involving Gladney and a 22-year-old woman over text messages she was receiving. The woman told police she was in a relationship with Gladney, who she accused of hitting her with closed fists, choking her and dragging her by the hair outside of a car while Gladney was driving in an effort to get her phone unlocked. The woman broke free from Gladney and escaped in another vehicle.

Detectives say the woman had bruises on her head, ears and torso, scratches on her face and neck and abrasions on her knees, per CBS 11 News. You can read the full details on the allegations towards Gladney in the CBS link provided and in the tweet thread below:

Vikings: 2020 first-round pick Jeff Gladney turns himself in to Dallas County police

If found guilty of these charges, Gladney is facing 2-to-10 years in prison. The Vikings have yet to release a statement once this news broke.

Gladney was the Vikings’ second of two first-round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, going 31st-overall out of Texas Christian University. Cornerback was a position of need for the Vikings, as they lost the likes of Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander that offseason. Considering that, the Vikings immediately thrusted Gladney into the starting lineup in his first NFL season.

Through 16 games, Gladney recorded 81 combined tackles (seven for loss), three defended passes and one interception. In coverage, Gladney allowed 62 catches for 730 yards and six touchdowns on 88 targets.

As Gladney faces these charges on very serious allegations, the NFL could decide to hand him further punishment.
