When the Boston Red Sox acquired Franchy Cordero, this is what they envisioned.

Cordero was part of the trade which sent Andrew Benintendi to the Kansas City Royals. While he has yet to get much playing time as anything but a fourth outfielder, the Red Sox have high hopes for Cordero as the prime MLB-ready centerpiece in the Benintendi deal (there were prospects involved, of course).

On Tuesday night, he made his presence felt, climbing the wall spiderman-style for a highlight-reel catch. It usually takes players a decent amount of time before they learn how to play in front of the Green Monster at Fenway Park. Cordero seems to have the hang of it already.

Are the Boston Red Sox back on track already?

Just like it was too soon to make a judgement on the 2021 Boston Red Sox after a three-game sweep at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles, it is too soon to suggest they’re fine just a few contests later.

A few winning moments from players of Cordero’s caliber should help matters, as role players need to perform for Boston to have any chance at making a playoff run this season.
