J.D. Martinez has been on an absolute tear this season and he continued that with three more homers against the Baltimore Orioles.

Is it too early to start the J.D. Martinez-MVP conversations? Absolutely not. After struggling at the dish last year, Martinez has looked like an absolutely stud early on during the 2021 campaign for the Boston Red Sox. He continued his hot play in a big way on Sunday against the Baltimore Orioles.

Martinez was no question the player of the day, as he lit up the Baltimore pitching staff for three homers. Yup, the superstar slugger left the yard three times in a big Boston win over their AL East foes.

It was a day to remember for J.D. Martinez as he hit three home runs against Baltimore

Seriously, when Martinez is hot, he’s no doubt one of the best hitters in the American League. Heck, he might be among the best hitters in all of baseball. Unfortunately for Baltimore, they were reminded of this with his three homers.

Thus far this season, Martinez really has been outstanding. Following Sunday’s victory, Martinez is hitting a mind-blowing .486 with five home runs in 35 at-bats. So, he’s belting a dinger once every seven plate appearances? That’s simply unreal.

Last year, Red Sox fans suffered in seeing Martinez hit so poorly. He ended the shortened 60-game campaign hitting .213 and recording only seven homers on the year. Now, he’s only two away from matching last year’s total in only 10 games.

For Boston, they started off the year losing the first three games of 2021, but they’ve followed that up by winning seven in a row. This team is playing outstanding right now and the exact same can be said about Martinez. What a player.
