Conor McGregor a slight favorite over Dustin Poirier in opening line for UFC 264 trilogy bout

With the trilogy contest between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor now official, the opening line for the bout has been released

The final chapter in the saga between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor will be written on July 10, as the two will do battle one more time in the main event of UFC 264.

UFC President Dana White announced on April 14 that the card featuring Poirier vs. McGregor III will take place in Las Vegas, but not at the UFC APEX. Instead, it will be held at the T-Mobile Arena in front of a capacity crowd with no COVID-based restrictions.

And now with the fight official, the first odds for the fight have come in. And despite McGregor eating a loss to Poirier in January at UFC 257, the former UFC champ-champ is pegged as the favorite.

Poirier and McGregor each hold a stoppage win over the other.

At UFC 178 in September 2014, when the two were still featherweight contenders, McGregor scored a TKO of Poirier in just under two minutes.

At UFC 257, it was Poirier who got revenge with a second-round finish of McGregor, becoming the first man to stop McGregor by way of KO and TKO.

While the second fight seemed to have no bad blood between the two parties, this final fight seems to have the intensity the first had. Earlier in the week, Poirier accused McGregor of not fulfilling a promised donation to his charity, The Good Fight Foundation.

McGregor rebutted that it was Poirier and his people who went silent after he and his team asked how the money would be spent, prompting McGregor to at one point say the fight is off.
