Zion Williamson had nothing but nice things to say about playing in Madison Square Garden following the New Orleans Pelicans’ loss to the New York Knicks on Sunday.

The New York Knicks are the talk of the city, and that is more evident than ever with the Yankees struggling at the start of the MLB season. On Sunday, the Knicks defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 122-112 to extend their winning streak to six games. Now, the Knicks are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference and look like a legitimate playoff contender.

How could things get any better for Knicks fans?

Following their loss to the Knicks, Pelicans star Zion Williamson had nothing but praise for New York and Madison Square Garden, saying that he “loves playing” there and it is his “favorite place to play” besides New Orleans.

Knicks: Zion Williamson expresses his ‘love’ for playing at Madison Square Garden

Zion to the Knicks confirmed?

This was Williamson’s first game at “The Mecca” as an NBA player, where he scored 34 points (on 13-for-23 shooting from the field and 8-of-11 from free-throw line), grabbed 9 rebounds and dished out 5 assists.

Remember back in the 2018-19 season, Knicks fans were hoping the team lost enough games to secure the rights to the first overall selection and pick Williamson out of Duke. While New York did have the best odds in the draft lottery, the team dropped down to the third overall pick while the Pelicans won the “Zion sweepstakes.”

While the Knicks did lose out on the Duke star, they got a stellar player in RJ Barrett, who just so happened to be Williamson’s teammate. Could there be a reunion in the near future? It’s far too early to tell, even though Williamson becomes a restricted free agent in 2023. Still, there is plenty of time before any free agency talk for Zion, with a massive rookie extension likely in his near future.

Knicks fans, just do not get your hopes up … yet.
