Clemson football: Trevor Lawrence shouts out Travis Etienne after both players get drafted by Jaguars

Clemson football stars Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne reunite on the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Trevor Lawrence will get to begin his NFL career with his former Clemson football teammate Travis Etienne in the same Jacksonville Jaguars backfield as him.

Lawrence was the undisputed No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Slated to be the next John Elway, Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning at the quarterback position, Lawrence will still need some help to turn around this doormat of an AFC South franchise. Blessed with a second first-round pick, Jacksonville added Lawrence’s former Clemson buddy Etienne with the No. 25 overall pick.

Here is Lawrence congratulating Etienne on getting drafted and joining him down in North Florida.

Clemson football: Trevor Lawrence welcomes Travis Etienne to the Jaguars

Even though they did a ton of winning in the ACC in college, Lawrence and Etienne are going to a team that is currently riding a 15-game losing streak. Jacksonville has made the AFC Playoffs once since the George W. Bush Administration. While they have an excellent first-year head coach in Urban Meyer, he has never spent a day working in the NFL prior to arriving in Jacksonville this year.

The good news for Jacksonville is the Jaguars will not be the worst team in the division next year, as the title firmly belongs to the lowly Houston Texans. With the Tennessee Titans expected to regress and the Indianapolis Colts starting a new quarterback in Carson Wentz, the AFC South could be more up for grabs than people realize. Maybe the Jaguars can push for the playoffs?

Drafting Etienne will make things more comfortable for Lawrence as the face of the franchise.
