The Green Bay Packers didn’t have the greatest 2021 NFL Draft, but they did get some needed additions for both the offense and defense.

The 2021 NFL Draft came with some inopportune drama as the Green Bay Packers dealt with Aaron Rodgers’ stated desire to leave the team while also making picks to support him.

Green Bay wasn’t a runaway winner of draft weekend. However, they made some solid choices worthy of praise.

Here’s what they got right…

3. Addressing the gap at center

Not everyone was on board with the selection of Josh Myers with the No. 62 overall pick in the second round. The Packers could have gone with Creed Humphrey, who landed with the Kansas City Chiefs one pick later, or Quinn Meinerz, who went in the third round.

Still, Myers fills a direct need. Green Bay won’t have to worry about the center position going forward after losing All-Pro Corey Linsley to free agency.

Myers went against top talent every day playing for Ohio State. He comes from a football family with a father and brother who also played on the offensive line. He’s going to come in, start early and stay in the lineup for years to come.

It was also nice to see the team grab up Cole Van Lanen in the sixth round. The Green Bay native is a great story as well as a solid prospect. They also nabbed Royce Newman out of Ole Miss for the offensive line.
