Quarterback Aaron Rodgers reportedly had his last straw with the Green Bay Packers following the release of a certain wide receiver.

Since this past Thursday, the football media world was enthralled with the news of quarterback Aaron Rodgers reportedly wanting off of the Green Bay Packers. The tension was there ever since the team traded up for quarterback Jordan Love in last year’s NFL Draft. But, there is another reported reason as to why the signal caller is miffed with the Packers.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Rodgers wanted to be more involved in the team’s personnel decisions. What “drove Rodgers nuts,” in Rapoport’s words, was when the team released former fan favorite wide receiver Jake Kumerow over a day after the quarterback praised him publicly. Rapoport called it a “a little bit of a death knell” in the relationship.

In case you were wondering about Rodgers comments about Kumerow, they came on an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Sept. 3, 2020. Two days later, Kumerow was part of the Packers’ final roster cuts out of training camp. You can listen to Rodgers’ full comments in the clip below, courtesy of the Sirius XM NFL Radio official Twitter account (Kumerow comments begin at the 1:13 mark).

Through two seasons with the Packers, Kumerow had logged 20 receptions for 322 yards and two touchdowns on 30 targets.

There have been plenty of reports to come out since the bombshell dropped ahead of the first-round of the NFL Draft. From Rodgers not wanting to be a part of the organization altogether, to accepting trades to either the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos or Las Vegas Raiders to wanting the team to fire general manager Brian Gutekunst. There is a lot going on in Green Bay.

Who knows what is going to happen leading up to the 2021 regular-season. But we are going to be following the Rodgers saga all the way until a conclusion is reached.
