1. Carlos Correa

Carlos Correa is another player who is not exactly thrilled with his current team. He and the Houston Astros appear headed for a split after he received some low-ball offers from the club.

Correa is younger than Lindor and has a higher career WAR value even after battling through injury-riddled seasons for much of his career. He is someone who could have easily been kept long-term for cheaper than Lindor. That has all changed now.

Correa’s injury history may have been what had the Mets more focused on Lindor. Aside from the shortened 2020 campaign, the last time Correa played a full season was in 2017. However, the production has never faded.

Correa, Story, and even Corey Seager are three players who may be compared to Lindor over the next decade if the Mets’ 10-year commitment proves to be a bust.

However, it is still so early. This list is more about players Mets fans would have liked instead of Lindor based on one month of play. But if he does not turn things around in May, the boos are only going to get louder and the pressure will only build.

Can Lindor prove he was the right guy? He may not care given his guaranteed fortune.
