Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic doesn’t care whatsoever if he faces the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs this spring.

Later this year, a postseason matchup between the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers sure sounds tasty, doesn’t it? It’d have the makings of a Western Conference Finals battle. However, as things are shaping up right now, there’s a very good chance these two powerhouses could actually end up dancing in the first round.

If you ask Nuggets standout Nikola Jokic about that, he wouldn’t mind that whatsoever. You think he’s scared of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the rest of Los Angeles? Not at all.

Nikola Jokic will be ready to face the Lakers in the first round of the postseason if it happens

“If it happens, it happens,” Jokic said via The Denver Post’s Mike Singer. “Why not? If we want to win it, we need to play with the best. We are not going to try to fix anything.”

That quote from Jokic simply has to fire up Denver fans. Jokic knows that if the team wants to go on to play in the NBA Finals, they’ll likely have to take on the Lakers at some point. So, why not get things out of the way early?

As of this writing, Denver holds the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, while Los Angeles is No. 5. However, things really could end up ending in the regular season with the two sides all set to face off in the first round. It’d surely be an intriguing matchup and one NBA supporters would watch closely. Only time will tell if that ends up happening, but Jokic and co. will most certainly be ready.
