Unhappy Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers reportedly dubbed Packers GM Brian Gutenkunst with the mocking nickname Jerry Krause.

Aaron Rodgers apparently found a creative way to express his dislike for Packers general manager Brian Gutenkunst.

He gave him the nickname, Jerry Krause.

Bob McGinn of The Athletic reported the tidbit, saying Rodgers referred to Gutenkunst as Krause in group texts with teammates.

Tyler Dunne of Go Long confirmed the existence of the nickname.

Aaron Rodgers really doesn’t like Packers GM Brian Gutenkunst

Krause was the GM for the Chicago Bulls during their heyday in the 1990s when the team won six NBA championships. Despite that success, Michael Jordan and Krause didn’t get along. Their feuding over personnel decisions is infamous.

The Krause nickname is yet another example of Rodgers’ displeasure with the Packers organization. The disagreements and ire between Jordan and Krause mostly had to do with the star player feeling disrespected by the GM, who didn’t take his advice into account. That’s a mirror of what has gone on with the Packers.

Rodgers apparently feels like the team don’t value his opinion on personnel moves. They certainly aren’t including him in their planning. For instance, it didn’t inform him it was planning to take a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The quarterback’s annoyance with Green Bay grew when they released receiver Jake Kumerow last year, a day after Rodgers praised him publically.

There’s also a matter of showing him support in other ways. The Packers haven’t selected a pass catcher in the first or second round of the NFL Draft since Davante Adams in 2014.

The breakdown between the most important player in the organization and the guy making the personnel decisions has created an untenable situation.

According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports, Rodgers won’t return to the team if Gutenkunst is still there.
