The Los Angeles Lakers can breathe a sigh of relief thanks to the latest injury update on Anthony Davis, whose back spasms won’t keep him out long.

Injuries haven’t been kind to the Lakers in 2021. Fortunately, the latest concern for Anthony Davis hasn’t ballooned into something bigger.

According to Mike Trudell of Spectrum News Net, the forward will star for Los Angeles on Friday night against the Trail Blazers.

That’s a huge relief because Davis had to leave Thursday’s game against the Clippers in the first quarter with back spasms. The Lakers ended up losing that game 118-94.

It’s important to have Davis on the floor since the Lakers are flirting with falling into the Play-In Tournament.

In fact, the winner of Friday night’s game between LA and Portland will hold the No. 6 seed come Saturday.

The Lakers need Anthony Davis to pull them out of their funk

The Lakers have lost seven of their last 10 games. Six of those losses came with Davis in the lineup.

He’s been making his way back from injury, so slack needs to be cut. Just when it looked like he was really starting to find his feet again, the back spasms hit.

Frank Vogel and company can only hope he’s able to come back with the same confidence instead of regressing.
