Justin Fields is proving brave for many and providing hope for Bears
Justin Fields made a revelation about his health that is now providing hope to a whole different community outside of just Bears fans.
Chicago Bears fans have a new franchise savior in Justin Fields. The team drafted him with the No. 11 overall pick after he had to deal with the usual negative headlines that emerge every year around the draft.
Fields revealed he deals with epilepsy and has been managing it for years. That may have caused him to slide down some draft boards, but it was nothing the Bears were worried about. Fields made it clear the condition has not affected his football career and such a statement gave hope to so many dealing with it as well.
An article in the Chicago Tribune revealed just how much of an impact Fields had with this revelation.
Justin Fields providing hope outside of football
The article explained how Fields has now given hope to those dealing with epilepsy that they too can do anything. Someone worried about pursuing certain careers can now look to Fields as proof that epilepsy, when managed, did nothing to slow him down.
An interesting point made in the article as well is how Michael J. Fox having Parkinson’s disease brought a world of awareness to the disease. Fields is not the first athlete to deal with epilepsy, but he is a big name who is playing in an even bigger market.
There is no requirement for Fields to become a major advocate for those with epilepsy. But just revealing he deals with it was brave and can serve as inspiration without any more work on his part.
For some it will never matter how Fields does in a Bears uniform. That shows his transcendent abilities before he even takes his first NFL snap.
