Kevin Garnett says he regrets not joining the Celtics earlier
Kevin Garnett is being inducted in the Basketball Hall of Fame this weekend and took some time to share his love for the city of Boston.
Kevin Garnett is finally being enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame this weekend as part of the 2020 class. COVID-19 canceled last year’s festivities.
He will always be remembered for spending over a decade with the Minnesota Timberwolves. But he only reached the mountaintop of winning a championship in a Boston Celtics uniform. Garnett was traded to Boston in 2007 and was a champion at the conclusion of the season.
Playing in Boston is entirely different than in Minnesota. Garnett discussed that and shared one regret he had about his second NBA home.

Garnett may have had a bit of a culture shock when he joined the Celtics and had people screaming at him wherever he went. He also mentioned people trying to pump his gas for him, which doesn’t sound all that bad.
The man known as KG showed up in Boston and immediately formed a dynamic trio alongside Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Celtics fans will never forget that 2007-08 season and it should top Garnett’s own personal list as well.
His tenure in Boston did not end well as he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets. But that is the way the business goes and Garnett still looks fondly back on his days on the coast. Now Celtics fans will wonder what could have been if he showed up sooner at a time when the Eastern Conference was much more wide open.
