Conor McGregor reveals Khamzat Chimaev offered to help him prepare for Khabib Nurmagomedov.

With all the uncertainty surrounding Conor McGregor and the future of his MMA career, fans and UFC brass alike are searching for their next icon. The Chechen prospect Khamzat Chimaev seems to have captured the minds and wallets of the sport as a whole. Only four fights into his UFC career, Chimaev has a relentless all-around game that only grows in hype every time he utters the word “smesh” in an interview.

Names linked with the potential of fighting Chimaev include Nate Diaz, Leon Edwards, and now McGregor.

Chimaev posted a picture of himself and McGregor captioned, “Let’s make Big drama show,” and McGregor couldn’t help but chime in.

“Bratha, no problem. I appreciate you reaching out to the team in 2018 to come and help me beat up the little scared pigeon bitch,” he said in a since-deleted tweet. “Chechnya knows! Fuck those eagles mma pussies, we are Akhmat MMA! Smash them up we will! Let’s go!  The Mac and Akhmat! We take no shit! Never peace,” was McGregor’s initial response on Twitter.

Conor then followed up with another tweet and included a screenshot of a person he claims to be Chimaev lifting metal railings to fling at the bus holding Nurmagomedov.

“People do not know, I took that flight to defend my friend Artem’s honor, and also his Chechen friend Islam, who were both attacked by a group of eagle team,” McGregor wrote. “The Chechen was the one who grabbed the railings in the bowels of the Barclay center. A legend! We will never forget!”

McGregor is not in the business of making friends these days, however, he seems to have a soft spot for Chimaev, now we might know why. McGregor’s insight into Chimaev’s offer to help him prepare during the lead-up to fight Nurmagomedov is yet another layer of intrigue in the never-ending feud that is McGregor and Nurmagomedov.
