The Los Angeles Lakers have a few improvements to make if they want to take down the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs.

The Los Angeles Lakers officially qualified for the playoffs Wednesday night with an exciting win over the Golden State Warriors in the play-in round. But it was not a perfect performance though, and a much tougher Phoenix Suns team is awaiting the Lakers.

Improvements must be made, and they involve several notable names on the roster. Here are improvements the Lakers need to make to beat the Suns.

3. Get Kyle Kuzma more involved

Kyle Kuzma was limited to 6 points in 23 minutes against the Warriors. He only took seven shots from the field, finishing with a plus-8 line on the night.

Kuzma averaged nearly 13 points per game in the regular season and has stepped up several times as the Lakers dealt with injuries. They now need to get him more involved in the offense in case any of the big names have an off-night.

We all know the Lakers’ title hopes rest on the collective shoulders of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Getting Kuzma more involved keeps him ready in case there is a game where James or Davis cannot play as much. Or, like on Wednesday night, when Dennis Schroder may not be himself and scoring must come from another source.
