With the playoffs right around the corner, Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat are dealing with some unwanted controversy.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that Butler and some members of the Heat coaching staff were at odds at various points this season. The timing of said report is unfortunate from Miami’s point of view, as they’re preparing to face off against the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the postseason.

Butler isn’t afraid to stir the pot and tell his own teammates off when necessary — look no further than his time with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Charania did mention this so-called drama in passing, but Iman Shumpert was quick to call out his “snitching” on air.

Heat: Jimmy Butler’s agent not happy with Shams’ reporting

Bernard Lee represents Butler, and he had some words for Charania, as he was surprised by the reporting.

“Shut the f— up you click bait, ambulance chasing, dirt bag piece of s—. No one has told you this because this is not reality. Go find someone’s assistant to text abt an MRI or some other human calamity you want to be 1st on. We are good over here,” Lee wrote in an expletive-filled rant.

Lee’s reaction would suggest that Butler’s camp was caught off-guard.

This isn’t the first time Butler has stirred the pot, though previously it helped get him traded to Philadelphia. The Heat are entrenched in playoff mode at the moment, so there’s no time to address said controversy, even if they wanted to. The rest of Charania’s statement also rings true, in that this is just what Butler is known for. He pushes buttons, even if his own teammates and coaching staff aren’t prepared for it.

Early this season, Butler called out his own team to the media, stating just how poorly they were playing. He took ownership of their poor record as well.

Comfort is not Butler’s style of leadership. If anything, it’s the opposite. So far, it’s been working for him in Miami, even if some folks get their feelings hurt.
