Jordan Yamamoto released a statement to New York Mets fans on Twitter after his wife was a victim of harassment.

New York Mets pitcher Jordan Yamamoto had a message to those on Mets Twitter who were harassing his wife after his bad outing.

Yamamoto struggled in Sunday’s road start vs. his former team in the Miami Marlins. He allowed five runs, four earned in four innings pitched on Sunday. While he only walked two batters, he allowed six hits and only struck out two Marlins hitters. New York would drop the series finale in Miami 5-1 to fall to 21-19 on the year. Unfortunately, some on Mets Twitter went after his wife.

Here is Yamamoto’s message to Mets Twitter on the issue at hand.

New York Mets pitcher Jordan Yamamoto claps back at unruly Mets fans online

Yamamoto’s message was well-thought-out and pure class. While he has no problem with Mets fans getting mad online at his on-field performance on Sunday, he is massively disappointed that some fans decided to go after his wife. He took ownership of his bad start but did not like how some Mets fans would stoop to that level to attack his wife on a popular social media platform.

He did commend those Mets fans who tried to keep the others in check and telling them their disparaging comments about his wife were uncalled for. Yamamoto has only made two appearances for the Mets this season. He is 1-1 on the year with a 6.75 ERA and 1.800 WHIP over 6.2 innings pitched. New York begins a four-game series at Citi Field vs. the lowly Colorado Rockies Monday evening.

While it is fair to criticize Yamamoto in his start, his wife did not need to be dragged into this mess.
