Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy struggled to hold onto the ball at times during his rookie season. He’s focused on fixing that problem in 2021.

Jerry Jeudy dropped 10 passes in 2020. Any observer, partial or impartial, old or young, rich or poor, knows that’s way too many.

Jeudy may have been a rookie, but he needs to address that problem posthaste.

Fortunately, the receiver is very aware of that. It’s his focus this offseason.

“I had a lot of drops last year, so that’s a big emphasis that I’m doing this season,” Jeudy told Phil Milani. “After every practice, catching jugs. Just focusing on little details, like my hands. So that’s mostly what I’m focusing on.”

Jeudy was one of the last players to leave the field. He’s looking to prove he’s making every effort to live up to his potential.

“I’ve got a lot to prove this year,” he said. “I feel like if you put in the work, then all that work is going to show when it’s time to show. I’m just out here grinding.”

Jerry Jeudy is working to eliminate his high drop numbers

Jeudy had a solid rookie season in terms of production. He caught 52 passes for 866 yards and three touchdowns. With Courtland Sutton injured for the season, he was Denver’s leading receiver.

However, he caught just 46 percent of the passes thrown his way. Of 202 qualifying receivers, Jeudy ranked 200th in catch rate. With 113 targets, his numbers could have been significantly higher. The Denver Broncos‘ offense could have been noticeably better as well.

There’s a chicken and egg debate to be had about whether Jeudy’s catch rate was that low because he wasn’t getting it done or if Drew Lock wasn’t putting the ball where it needed to be. Whatever it was, Jeudy has to take care of his end of the bargain. Lock and Teddy Bridgewater will sort out their competition and the Broncos will hope things change.
