The 2021 MLB All-Star Game jerseys and caps were unveiled on Thursday. Let’s just say the reactions have not been favorable, to say the least.

The 2021 MLB All-Star Game is going to look different. And by different, we mean hideous.

The league provided a glimpse of the look they’ll have for the Midsummer Classic at Coors Field when they released sample images on Twitter. While this author can appreciate the “unique” design of the National League jerseys, there are perhaps many who won’t — judging by the response on Twitter for both the American League and National League’s jerseys and snap-back hats.

Reactions to the MLB All-Star Game jerseys and caps are not good

One user on Twitter commented, “Use me as a dislike button.”

Another commented, “Hats are fire, jerseys are not good at all.”

Among the minority, one person digs the look the MLB was going for, writing, “Colorado hat and Yankees jersey is clean as hell.”

And that positive comment was the proverbial needle in a haystack. There was a meme with a guy waving his hand over his face with the words “Stinky!,” a meme with Steve Carell from “The Office” shanking his head “no” and one where a lady is holding a sign with one-star out of five with the words “absolutely awful” underneath.

There were many more comments and memes that dragged these jerseys through the mud.

Ahead of the 2020 MLB season, the league and Nike struck a 10-year, $1 billion deal. Judging by the perception of Nike’s first crack at the bat at designing All-Star Game jerseys there may need to be a far different design scheme by next year’s All-Star Game.
