Sunday, June 27, provided boxings fans a Fight of the Year candidate between cruiserweight Brandon Glanton and Efetobor Apochi on FOX.

The Sunday, June 27, PBC on FOX boxing show continued an excellent weekend of boxing featuring stars like Gervonta Davis, Vasiliy Lomachenko, and Julio Cesar Martinez, but cruiserweights Brandon Glanton and Efetobor Apochi engaged in a Fight of the Year candidate.

The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was home to the showdown between the two up-and-coming cruiserweight and stole the show and got the boxing world buzzing with excitement in a thriller of a fight.

Apochi (11-1, 11 KOs) came into the fight as the favorite with a perfect record and knockout rating. Glanton (14-0, 11 KOs) also had an undefeated record and power. It looked like two unstoppable forces colliding on paper, and the fight played out that way, but Glanton got the better of the action.

Cruiserweights Brandon Glanton and Efetobor Apochi went to war, but Glanton finished on top

Glanton and Apochi were going back and forth, but a Glanton left hook to Apochi’s head momentarily knocked out Apochi on his feet at the end of round 6, but the lights turned on quickly. The ropes saved Apochi from going down, so it was ruled a knockdown, but it was miraculous that Apochi stayed on his feet and was able to continue to fight.

Apochi recovered well throughout the bout, but he never looked 100 percent. The Compubox punch statistics between the two were pretty even, but Glanton’s punches were more powerful and did more damage.

Glanton and Apochi went to war in the 10th and final round, with both men having their moments. The judges returned scores of 96-93 for Apochi and two scores of 95-94 for Glanton, giving him the split decision victory.

Glanton and Apochi both made many fans on this night, but Glanton took another step forward in his career and will be a hot commodity moving forward based on this performance.
