Former Mets GM Jared Porter banned through 2022 season

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred has just announced the massive news that former New York Mets manager Jared Porter has been banned through next season. 

It’s going to be a while before we see former New York Mets general manager Jared Porter back in an MLB front office. Matter of fact, he won’t even be able to sniff a new job until after the 2022 campaign is completed.

After a long investigation from MLB on serious sexual misconduct allegations, Rob Manfred announced on Wednesday that Porter has been placed on the league’s Ineligible List through at least the 2022 season.

Back in January, ESPN dropped an earth-shattering report, in which a reporter accused Porter, who was with the Cubs, of sending him inappropriate texts and photos of himself. This included him sending her a photo of his penis.

Shortly after that report was dropped, the Mets fired Porter.

“Having reviewed all of the available evidence, I have concluded that Mr. Porter violated MLB’s policies, and that placement on the ineligible list is warranted,” Manfred said in his statement. “We are committed to providing an appropriate work environment consistent with our values for all those involved in our game.”

In the ESPN report, Porter confirmed that he had sent texts to the reporter. Originally, he claimed that the lewd photos she received were not him. Now, after being fired by the Mets, Porter will have to wait for this season and then 2022 to pass by to see if another team will give him a shot. It doesn’t look like anyone will be lining up or be in a rush to do so, though.
