The long-awaited hope of Justin Fields helped one Chicago Bears fan survive after being shot.

A Chicago Bears fans was able to beat death after being shot with the hope of seeing Justin Fields star for his favorite team.

Scott Morrow, 41, was shot in the early hours of June 20 while walking to his friend’s place in Humboldt Park. While he initially thought of his friends and family while fighting for his life in an ambulance, he then thought about the Bears’ new franchise quarterback. Chicago traded up from the 20s to draft Fields No. 11 overall out of Ohio State in this past spring’s 2021 NFL Draft.

“Within a couple moments, I thought well, I’m 41, pretty much all of Chicago has gone our whole lives without even having great prospects for a franchise quarterback, I can’t die before seeing Justin Fields take the field, man,” said Morrow.

If Fields is as good as advertised, he can become the best Bears quarterback since Sid Luckman.

While the Bears have had several outstanding teams over the years, continued success at the quarterback position has largely evaded them. Though signal-callers like Jim McMahon, Rex Grossman and Jay Cutler had their moments in Chicago, none have been able to surpass the ghost that is Luckman. However, Fields possesses the talent to become Chicago’s next NFL superstar.

For most of the 2020 offseason, Fields was projected to be the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. However, a slight regression during his junior year at Ohio State contributed to him being the fourth quarterback taken this past spring. With him falling out of the top 10, the Bears made an incredibly savvy move to trade up to get him. He can become the team’s franchise cornerstone.

Morrow is not alone in being incredibly hopeful about what Fields could do in a Bears uniform.
