Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said Klay Thompson has taken a big step forward in his injury recovery.

Despite the 2021 NBA Finals not wrapping up yet, the Golden State Warriors have already turned their focus to the 2021-22 campaign. And it goes without saying, but Steve Kerr and Co. can’t wait to see what Klay Thompson can get done.

The star sharpshooter has missed the past two seasons due to injury. First, he tore his ACL in the 2019 NBA Finals, then he missed all of this campaign due to a torn Achilles. Now, he’s slowly but surely working his way back. Well, Kerr has given fans reason to be excited, as he said Thompson is back running on the practice courts.

Klay Thompson back up and running up and down the court is huge for the Warriors

“He’s still a ways away from actually playing basketball in a 5-on-5 setting,” Kerr said via Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “But there’s a big step with the Achilles when you can actually start running again. It’s a huge psychological boost. The rest of the body gets going, you start feeling the soreness and aches and pains that actually feel good when you’ve been out for a while. He’s at that point.”

If you’re a Warriors fan, how can you see that quote and not be jacked up? Thompson is at the point where he can really start taking things to the next level. With that said, the Warriors are of course going to take things slow with him.

The last thing they want to do is speed up Thompson’s work and see him re-injure himself. However, Thompson is on the right track. Obviously, folks can’t wait to see him play this year. It’s not just Golden State fans. The NBA is simply better with Thompson shooting lights out on a daily basis. His time will come soon enough.
