Seattle officially has an NHL team, as they booed commissioner Gary Bettman during the Kraken’s Expansion Draft.

Fans in Seattle have been waiting for this day for quite some time — the very first season of their new NHL team, the Seattle Kraken. After the name and logo was introduced in the past year, the team officially set their roster in the Expansion Draft on Wednesday, July 21.

Prior to the draft taking place, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman stepped up to the stage to give a speech. As he walked towards the podium, Bettman was booed by the Seattle faithful.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman booed at Kraken Expansion Draft

Bettman said it best, Seattle is officially hockey ready. Let’s be real here, you do not have an NHL team if you do not boo the commish.

The full roster will be revealed at the end of the event (if you were lucky enough to avoid the spoilers on social media). In the early portions of the draft, it was revealed that the Kraken will play their first regular-season game on the road against the Vegas Golden Knights. Not only that, but Seattle’s home jerseys were showcased courtesy by new goaltender Chris Driedger, formerly of the Florida Panthers.

Congratulations to Seattle and welcome to the NHL.
