Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin continues to rave over the play of superstar safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

It goes without saying, but Pittsburgh Steelers star Minkah Fitzpatrick is one of the best defensive players out there. After starting off his career with the Miami Dolphins, the former first-round pick is now putting on a show each weekend at Heinz Field and on the road.

It’s of course been amazing to see for head coach Mike Tomlin. He continues to be in awe of what Fitzpatrick is able to do during games and on the practice field. He made that much clear with his latest comments, comparing Fitzpatrick to some true legends of the game.

Mike Tomlin has nothing but great things to say about Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick

Fitzpatrick has been a standout ever since arriving to the NFL from Alabama in 2018. In back-to-back seasons, he’s been received First-Team All Pro honors. In 2020, the 6-foot-1, 207-pounder posted 79 tackles and four interceptions. His speed and ball-hawking ways truly make him special.

Tomlin understands this, which is why he didn’t hesitate in comparing Fitzpatrick to John Lynch and Ronde Barber. The thing here, however, is that Tomlin believes that Fitzpatrick still has the potential to get even better.

Remember, he’s getting ready to begin only his fourth season in the league. He’s not even close to the prime of his career at just 24 years old, and he won’t turn 25 until November. The idea of the defensive back taking even more positive steps next year should scare the rest of the AFC.

For the Steelers, they’re hoping to not only win the AFC North, but go on a serious postseason run in what could be Ben Roethlisberger’s final season. While Big Ben will be running things offensively, there’s no doubt that Fitzpatrick will be the leader of the defense. He’s just that good.
