Manchester United has just confirmed the news fans were hoping for, with the team announcing they’ve agreed to a deal to land Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.

Welcome to Manchester United, Raphael Varane. On Tuesday, the English Premier League side confirmed on Twitter that the club has agreed to a deal in principle with Real Madrid to have the superstar center back make his way to Old Trafford.

As soon as Manchester United dropped its tweet, fans have been losing their minds all over social media. This is a move the Manchester United supporters have wanted, as it means that the Frenchman will now be paired with Harry Maguire to man the center of the defense.

The Raphael Varane transfer to Manchester United is now official

With Varane in, this means that Swedish center back Victor Lindelof is now headed for the bench. This fact alone must have countless folks all over England celebrating in a big way. With Varane, he’s won the La Liga and Champions League title multiple times.

He was a standout for Real Madrid, but the team is in a bit of a rebuild right now, also saying goodbye to Sergio Ramos this offseason. Varane only had one year left on his contract, which made the decision easy for Madrid to sell him. The last thing they wanted to see was have Varane leave for free next summer.

For Manchester United, this Varane update comes less than a week after the club announced the news of Jadon Sancho making the move over from Borussia Dortmund and the Bundesliga. With Varane and Sancho on board, the front office will now look to add a midfielder. Guys like Saul Niguez and Eduardo Camavinga have been linked with United.
