Paul Pogba welcomes Raphael Varane to Manchester United amidst PSG rumors

Paul Pogba couldn’t be happier that fellow Frenchman Raphael Varane is headed to Manchester United, as the two spoke on FaceTime on Wednesday. 

Earlier in the week, Manchester United fans lost their minds when news broke that star center back Raphael Varane is making his way to Old Trafford from Real Madrid. After a brilliant career in La Liga, Varane is headed to the Premier League.

Will he be playing with French countryman Paul Pogba with United? While Pogba is still under contract, rumors continue to swirl he could make his way to Paris Saint-Germain. Despite that, Pogba spoke with Varane on FaceTime to welcome him to the team, taking to Instagram to share that update with everyone.

Raphael Varane is headed to Manchester United and Paul Pogba is fired up about it

Both Varane and Pogba are smiling from ear to ear in the photo above. For Pogba, he has dreams of helping Manchester United win the Premier League title, so bringing in a guy like Varane to play with Harry Maguire in the middle of the defense was surely big for him.

At the same time, Pogba is about to enter the last year of his contract with United, and it’s unclear if he wants to sign a long-term extension or not. If he doesn’t, that could open the door for Manchester United to sell him this summer, as they won’t want him to leave for free next offseason.

PSG has been incredibly busy in the summer transfer window, adding Sergio Ramos, Gianluca Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi and others. Should they bring in Pogba, their Champions League odds will skyrocket. For now, Pogba will suit up for Manchester United with Varane come the 2021-22 campaign. However, that could change soon.
