Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James’ latest Instagram post indicates that he is pretty stoked about the acquisition of Russell Westbrook.

NBA fans expected there to be a bevy of moves ahead of and during the 2021 NBA Draft. Leave it to the Los Angeles Lakers to set the tone and let the world know that they fully intend to contend for the Larry O’Brien trophy next year.

On Thursday, the Lakers acquired guard Russell Westbrook, a 2024 second-round pick and a 2028 second-rounder from the Washington Wizards in exchange for Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and the 22nd overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

While Lakers fans were no doubt happy about the team adding a triple-double machine in Westbrook, perhaps no one was more stoked than LeBron James, as evidenced by his latest Instagram post.

The Lakers showed last offseason that they planned on running it back as NBA champions based off their bevy of moves. However, the team was bitten by the injury bug hard, especially to James and Anthony Davis. Even though the Lakers escaped the play-in round with a win over the Golden State Warriors, the Lakers were eliminated in the first round by the Phoenix Suns.

This summer, the Lakers were expected to make a run for a point guard. Instead of exploring options in unrestricted and restricted free agency, the organization decided to create a super-team by adding Westbrook alongside James and Davis.

Through 65 games this past season playing alongside Bradley Beal on the Wizards, Westbrook averaged 22.2 points, a career-high 11.7 assists and 11.5 rebounds per game while shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 31.5 percent from 3-point range.

We are months away from the 2021-22 season from taking place, and fans are no doubt as excited as LeBron about the Lakers’ Big 3.
