Unfortunately, a heartbreaking incident occurred at Citi Field over the weekend while the New York Mets were out of town. According to local reports, a man appears to have fallen from a second-floor stair case at the ball park in Queens.

A man in New York was found dead at Citi Field on Friday night

Dead & Company, a popular rock band, was performing at Citi Field on Friday night in front of a packed house. Per CNN, it’s not clear if the man was attending the concert or not. The Mets have been in Los Angeles for a series with the Dodgers, but the team’s front office was informed of this tragedy.

“We are aware of a tragic incident which sadly resulted in a fatality last night,” Mets spokesperson Harold Kaufman told CNN after the incident. “Our deepest and heartfelt condolences go out to the attendee’s loved ones.”

According to EMS personnel, the man who fell and passed away was a 46-year-old male. Per police spokesman Hubert Reyes, it is yet to be determined if this stunning update was an accident or not. That’s still being investigated.

It goes without saying, but this is incredibly sad news and the Flushing community as a whole has been rocked by the news. More details are sure to come from what happened, but for now, the Mets as a whole are mourning the man’s death.
