Legendary boxer Manny Pacquiao recently lost a championship bout to Yordenis Ugás, but did he announce his retirement on Twitter?

Manny Pacquiao is one of the best boxers in history, but his Aug. 21 defeat to Yordenis Ugás has his boxing future in question. Did he announce his retirement on Twitter?

A recent tweet from Pacquiao makes it hard to tell.

Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KOs) has accomplished so much in his boxing career. He’s the only eight-division world champion in history and has 12 world titles to his credit. He looked diminished against Ugás but still gave a respectable performance.

Manny Pacquiao offered a vague tweet that makes retirement sound likely, but it’s hard to tell

He told ESPN after their fight that he was leaning towards retirement, but a recent tweet from Pacquiao implies retirement but doesn’t explicitly state his intentions.

“I have come to this point in my career by the grace of God,” stated Pacquiao’s tweet, “It is He who gave me the strength to fight. I can look back and honestly say that I gave my best. My family and you, the fans, have been with me all the way. I will not focus on the defeat, but instead count my blessings!”

Pacquiao’s tweet has a reminiscent tone but doesn’t specifically state that he’s retiring. The nostalgic sentence “I can look back and honestly say that I gave my best” indicates retirement, but who’s to say?

Pacquiao doesn’t mention the word retirement, but this tweet doesn’t really clarify his intentions. What do you think? Did Pacquiao retire, or is the door still open for another fight?
