Look: Josh Allen was amazing against the Packers in Bills’ preseason finale

Josh Allen was great in his first (and final) preseason outing for this summer, and it was definitely enough to get Bills Mafia fired up.

Josh Allen is showing no signs of slumping.

The Buffalo Bills quarterback remained on the sideline the first two preseason games. That was until head coach Sean McDermott decided to play Allen in the preseason finale against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday. This was the first time he saw action since the 2020 AFC Championship Game and he looked impressive to say the least.

Peep the play where he scrambled to his left and while running outside of pocket he made a throw right on the money to wideout Cole Beasley. Allen turned a possible broken play on first and long into a 21-yard completion to get the Bills inside the red zone. Allen capped off the drive with a three-yard touchdown pass to running back Zack Moss.

Allen is showing flares like he’s in midseason form and in his lone preseason appearance he completed 20-of-26 of his passes and piled up 194 yards through the air with two passing touchdowns on his stat line.

What does this mean for Josh Allen in the regular season?

Allen’s performance is putting the league on notice that this team is still a championship contender. During the Bills 2020 campaign the squad won the AFC East with a 13-3 record as they took the league by storm with their offense.

The Bills ranked second in points per game as they were led by Pro Bowlers Allen and wideout Stefon Diggs, who had a career year in his first season in Buffalo. Diggs led the league in catches (127) and receiving yards (1,535). Those marks were also franchise best in a single season as Allen also set franchise single season records in passing yards (4,544), passing touchdowns (37), completion percentage (69.2) and quarterback rating (107.2).

While Allen sure seems ready for the season opener, when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 12, imagine how good he’ll be when his number one target is back in the fold. Diggs has missed time in practice due to a knee injury and has been scratched all preseason long. Once he makes his return, the sky is the limit for Bills Mafia in 2021.
