Asante Samuel crushes Bill Belichick on Twitter after the New England Patriots released Cam Newton.

Former New England Patriots star cornerback Asante Samuel took a big shot at his former head coach Bill Belichick for releasing Cam Newton on Tuesday morning.

The four-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion quote tweeted ESPN’s Louis Riddick’s comment about Belichick being “cold-blooded”. Samuel’s remark said Belichick being cold-blooded is an understatement. He then went on to say the only reason he won any of those Super Bowls was because of Tom Brady. Brady just won No. 7 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

All the while, Mac Jones has emerged as the new franchise quarterback for the Patriots.

Patriots: Asante Samuel rips Bill Belichick over Cam Newton being released

Samuel spent his first five NFL seasons in New England, winning two Super Bowls and having his best statistical season in 2007. He earned his first of four straight Pro Bowl nods, as well as being named First-Team All-Pro. Samuel then went on to have a successful four-year run with the Philadelphia Eagles before playing his final two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons before retiring.

These days, he is probably enjoying being a dad watching his namesake son begin his NFL career with the Los Angeles Chargers. However, him seeing a former NFL MVP like Newton get cast to the wayside probably struck a nerve with him on this fine Tuesday. Ultimately, Belichick makes all of his roster moves without any emotion. It may be cold-blooded, but he is very consistent with it.

Newton is not the first veteran Belichick has kicked to the curb, and he is not going to be the last.
