UNC football head coach Mack Brown was forced to admit his Tar Heels team was overrated after being upset by Virginia Tech.

Anyone who watched the Virginia Tech Hokies upset the North Carolina Tar Heels on Friday night knows one thing: UNC football is not the No. 10 team in the nation.

Even head coach Mack Brown admits it.

“Obviously the shine’s off,” Brown said after the game, via ESPN. “The ratings mean nothing at this point. We were overrated tonight.”

Brown deserves to be corrected on one point. The ratings meant nothing before the upset loss as well. They mean just as little now. His team was bested 17-10. All that matters is the 0-1 record on their resume.

It’s all about what you do on the field, not what people expect of you. The Tar Heels now have to work their way back into contention in the ACC by winning games. There’s no other way.

The first step is facing Georgia State next week and getting a victory.
