Center isn’t the only high-profile changing of the guard on the Packers’ offensive line this year. There has also been a big change at left tackle to start the season. Jenkins needs to take over for stalwart David Bahkiari while the former Pro Bowler recovers from injury.

In fairness to the former Mississippi State standout, Jenkins did hold up reasonably well when Bakhtiari missed games due to injury last season. His final season PFF grade of 67.7 accurately depicts him as an above-average starter at the tackle position.

That doesn’t mean Jenkins is ready to handle Cameron Jordan without help. Green Bay’s coaching staff will need to give him significant help with tight ends and running backs if they want to keep New Orleans’ best pass rusher away from Rodgers for all four quarterbacks of the opener.

Jenkins probably won’t ever be as good as Bakhtiari was during his prime, but the level of play between the two tackles might be closer than many Green Bay fans predict this season. Jenkins could do wonders for his value inside the organization by dominating Jordan in their Week 1 matchup.
