Mets: Luis Rojas makes trio of fireable offenses against Marlins

New York Mets manager Luis Rojas is finding creative ways to get fired and blow the team’s playoff chances at the same time.
Rojas is likely the odd man out for a Mets team that has woefully underperformed in 2021 after a hot start. New owner Steve Cohen had enormous expectations for this group, especially after adding Francisco Lindor via trade (and signing him to a massive contract extension), as well as a number of free agent pieces.
The team that Cohen and Mets fans envisioned hasn’t materialized, and it’s easy to point to Rojas as the scapegoat.
Against the Marlins on Wednesday night, Rojas arguably had three fireable offenses in the same game.

Luis Rojas amateur hour continues. Laughable managerial job. Less than a month of him left at the helm.
That is, uh, not ideal. The Mets would lose to lowly Miami, of course, and Rojas backed up his decision to let Diaz face Bryan De La Cruz because it was righty-on-righty, which doesn’t help his cause.

Rojas can save his job if the Mets can somehow make the postseason. For now, they are four games back in the NL East, behind both the Philadelphia Phillies and division-leading Atlanta Braves.
Of course, they wouldn’t be in that position to begin with were it not for an August slide which, by all accounts, was not a good look for Rojas whatsoever.
Cohen has every right not to be patient. He gained that right when he bought a controlling interest in the team.
Don’t be surprised if he pulls the trigger early this offseason.
