Ryan Fitzpatrick suffered hip subluxation, WFT quarterback placed on Injured Reserve

The Washington Football Team has more detailed information on Ryan Fitzpatrick’s Week 1 injury that saw him leave the game in favor of Taylor Heinicke.
It’s a tough day for Washington Football Team fans. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick underwent an MRI that confirmed a hip subluxation and puts him on the sidelines for at least three weeks.
Fitzpatrick suffered the injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers on a hit by linebacker Uchenna Nwosu. The Washington Football Team lost 20-16.

If it is any consolation, there is a chance that the starting quarterback could make a return sometime this season, maybe even as soon as Week 5 against the New Orleans Saints.
In the meantime, backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke will face at least three opponents: the New York Giants, the Buffalo Bills and the Atlanta Falcons. All three teams lost their Week 1 games and find themselves with the same 0-1 record as Washington.
Heinicke will make his first start on Thursday night against a Giants team coming off of a sound 27-13 loss to the Denver Broncos. Week 3’s Buffalo Bills will easily be the most difficult matchup out of the three. Assuming a loss there, Heinicke could still lead his team to a 2-1 record if they can pull it off against the Atlanta Falcons who are currently last in the power rankings.
There is never a good time to be injured, but if Fitzpatrick can keep his time on Injured Reserve to a minimum and make a start against the Saints, the Washington Football Team may be in a good place to continue the early 2021 season.
